Governor Alex Otti Appoints Benson Ojeikere as Abia State Head of Service

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has announced the appointment of Mr. Benson Ojeikere as the new Head of Service for the Abia State Civil Service. The announcement was made on Tuesday via the governor's official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Mr. Ojeikere, originally from Edo State, brings decades of experience to his new role. He began his career in Abia State after completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, during which he was recognized as the best Youth Corps member and offered automatic employment by the state government. Over the years, he has risen through the ranks of the civil service, earning accolades for his diligence and excellence, including excelling in the Permanent Secretary examination category.

Governor Otti emphasized that Mr. Ojeikere’s appointment aligns with his administration’s commitment to meritocracy and the transformation of Abia State’s governance and civil service. "We aim to build a system where meritocracy triumphs over mediocrity, and where the best and brightest can rise to the top, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds," the governor stated.

The governor also called on all Permanent Secretaries and civil servants to fully support Mr. Ojeikere in his new position.

Governor Otti expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Ngozi Queen Obioma, for her exceptional leadership and contributions to the state’s civil service.

Mr. Ojeikere’s appointment marks a significant step in the administration’s efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the civil service in Abia State.
